About Me

Hello! I'm Myla.

Some basic facts about me:
- 21 years old
- Filipino and Italian
- From Connecticut, US
- Graphic design student in NYC
- Tolkien fan since I watched FOTR in 2001

Aside from reading the books, I channel my love for Tolkien by being a reporter for Middle-earth News and collecting. I consider everyone on the news team to be my family! As for collecting, that started soon after I saw Fellowship for the first time. My dad got me the books and LotR board games and action figures and all of that. It's his fault that I have this collecting obsession. At the moment I have two bookcases fully dedicated to my Tolkien memorabilia. You can read more about my collection here.

What else... I  LOVE Broadway shows, especially musicals. Well... musicals in general. I'm not a singer, actor or dancer though, Believe me, you do not want to hear me sing. Or dance. I've seen 100+ Broadway shows (including Off-Broadway and repeats) and my box of Playbills is currently collecting dust under my bed. It is not uncommon for me to spontaneously burst out and start singing show tunes. Favorite musicals include: The Phantom of the Opera, Rent, Spring Awakening, The Lord of the Rings, Memphis, In the Heights, Drowsy Chaperone, Once, Book of Mormon, Next to Normal and... okay that's enough. If you want to know all the shows I've seen, visit this page.

And lastly, I'm an artist! When I have the time and motivation that is. I mostly enjoy working with paper, ink, and digital programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.

Aside from Tolkien, some of my other interests include (but are not limited to):
  • Avatar: The Last Airbender
  • The Legend of Korra

  • How to Train Your Dragon
  • Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire
